With over 40 years of Martial and Healing Arts training, Jim Risinger’s experience is varied and impressive, offering many options for students of different levels and interests. He is a recognized Grand Master or Hanshi through the Independent Karate Schools of America and Shidoshi in the nine schools of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (or Ninjutsu).

His honorary warrior title, courtesy of Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, is Oni Ku Daki or the "Demon Crusher", which is interpreted as "one who confronts ignorance with great compassion and light but when given resistance assists the individual in seeing

something completely different."  

You will quickly recognize Master Jim’s enthusiasm for all aspects of Martial Discipline.  His energetic and detailed training, along his enthusiasm and experience in the subjects he teaches, will bring you to a new level of understanding in your practice and your life. 

Master Jim is also a master carpenter and owner of Rising Sun Woodworks in Santa Maria, California.  You may be impressed by the Japanese style woodwork you see throughout the dojo. It was designed and built personally by Jim Risinger, a General Contractor and Finish Carpenter. Many of the custom practice weapons you see were designed and made for our students.
